(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) October, 16, 2015 - "Iron Man" is behind bars thanks to the help of a real-life hero.
Bruce Hill is accused of robbing an east side Dollar General store 4 times -- each time wearing an "Iron Man" mask, But on Wednesday , "Iron Man’s" scheme was foiled with the help of a real-life hero. PH3 Security Officer Chris Sambrotta, had just arrived at the Dollar General at 16th Street and Emerson Avenue Wednesday afternoon to provide armed security after a string of robberies believed to be committed by the same person. Moments later, "Iron Man" showed up... again.
Security video shows the suspect approach the cashier and ask for money. He then tries to leave once he noticed Sambrotta, but gets knocked back—then uses the other door and takes off. Sambrotta was not allowed to go after him, but police were called and Sambrotta gave them a specific description of "Iron Man." About a half hour later, Metro police found Hill a mile down the road.
An "Iron Man" mask even fell from his jacket when police were talking with him. Hill was arrested and taken to jail.
Sambrotta is a soldier with the Indiana National Guard, an Iraq War veteran, and a security guard for PH3, a veteran-owned company that employs veterans including those who were wounded during their service. Sambrotta says PH3 offers him an opportunity to continue to serve. "Using the skills, training and the muscle memory I have can be applied here at home to help protect our own citizens. It's also a lot better when you can actually do your job and you can see the difference on the people’s faces that are there in the situation," said Sambrotta.
Hill was formally charged Friday with 4 counts of robbery and one count of armed robbery. His bond hearing is set for October 19th. PH3 is always looking for qualified veterans to employ.
